I have no idea how the McGauleys did it in 1983, but back in my childhood, family reunions consisted of nearby kinfolk stopping by, a little potluck, some talk about who recently died, some front yard nerf football, some talk about who's getting ready to die, some watermelon around a picnic bench, naps, some talk about which medicines people are taking in order to avoid dying, and lots and lots of sweet tea.
